Very clearly, this product alone will not actually save your ass in a crash. Not alone it wont. But when used as a smart extra layer, it certainly can help dodge bone trauma, bruising and the painful scraping off of ones skin.
The Compression Pants armor is not CE rated, per se, but they do sport multiple ~5mm-thick die-cut D30 panels. There are 11 of these panels in total, including a critical coccyx (tailbone) protector. Critically, each island of D3O is sheathed in a genuine DuPont Kevlar shell, so they offer some palpable supplemental slide protection on top of the armor.
As with any piece of gear youre considering, its important to understand not just what it will do for you, but also what it *will not* do. The better you can know the limitations of your gear, the better you can calculate your own risks.
What cant they do? They cant be worn on their own. Helpfully, Icon has engineered a built-in deterrent for this, making this product essentially come off as a strange sort of semi-translucent yoga capri.
What can they do? When worn under standard civilian-grade denim or cotton duck jeansthe thicker the material, the betterthese pants will significantly improve one's chances against injury.
Alternatively, wear them as a slim extra under-layer with any of our regular motorcycle riding pants, and these moto-yoga pants will pump up your protection level as surely as Schwarzenegger cycled steroids in the 70s.
Bottom line: thesesuperhero underpants won't (alone) make you invincible, but they'll certainly help the cause.
